The Holidays Around the World celebration brought NF families from central and northern California together for a few hours of fun. Meeting at a conference room at the Vacaville Courtyard by Marriot those in attendance enjoyed food, music, and crafts. For some, it was a reunion, having met at past events. For others, this was the first NFC event attended.
There were a variety of crafts set up at multiple tables. Both adults and children seemed drawn to the bead table the most, creating both beaded jewelry and Christmas tree ornaments. Several dreidels and ornaments were made out of clay and those attending had the opportunity to learn how to play the dreidel game. Coloring was especially popular with the younger crowd while the elementary school children spent much of their time gluing a variety of projects. It didn’t take long for those attending to become fully comfortable with each other and their surroundings. Many of the children preferred crafting on the floor and they gathered in groups, helping each other.
Although the food, music, and crafts were enjoyable, all would agree that the friendships (both those renewed and those begun) were the highlight of the day.
